Getting dentures can be a significant step forward in your overall oral health. From allowing you to eat foods that you previously could not, to providing support to your facial structure, to simply allowing you to speak properly again, there are a number of reasons to get dentures. Yet, at the same time, many of our patients have some reservations about getting dentures. A number of these feelings stem from common perceptions about dentures. We want to take a few moments to talk with you about these feelings, and help you to see how easy and beneficial getting dentures can be. Common Misconceptions About DenturesSome of our patients think they can't get dentures because of their age. They may feel like they are too young to consider such a measure. The fact of the matter is, dentures can help you regardless of how old (or how young) you may be. The idea that only old people get dentures is simply wrong. In fact, there's a good chance that someone you know has dentures—but you don't know it because you can't tell. With today's advances in dental technology, a properly crafted and worn set of dentures can look almost exactly like your natural teeth. Other people avoid dentures because they think the maintenance will be too much. Fact of the matter is, taking care of dentures can actually be easier than caring for your natural teeth. After all, you can't remove your natural teeth for easy cleaning! Helping Our Patients Choose DenturesOf course, dentures may not be for everyone. Depending on your situation, you may find another alternative to be a better fit. However, if you are considering dentures, please feel free to reach out to us.
